Sometimes it's important to step back and remind yourself what you've achieved...
This was our allotment (or non-existent allotment!) just after we moved here
And this is it today, about 21 months later
All that hard work leaves a man in need of a nap.....

garden stuff
I spent a happy hour this morning planting irises that a friend wanted to get rid of. As they are my favourite flower, I was only too happy to give them a new home! It's not quite Monet's garden yet, but I'm working on it!!! I also planted the asparagus crowns we received earlier this week from greenharvest, and planted out a few of the cabbages that I have been bringing along in the greenhouse.
This weekend will be garden clean-up, raised bed building, and barrowing soil and compost form one side of the garden to the other....I'm quite hoping it will rain, because housework sounds relaxing by comparison!

it may be 12 degrees outside...
but it's a toasty warm 28 in the greenhouse!! Hopefully in the next week we'll have the heatsink ready to go, so we will be able to store some of this heat for the night time.
With all that lovely warmth, the tomatoes are starting to ripen - in July! (the plants are looking a bit scraggly though), and there are strawberries forming
Check out our flikr site (link on the left hand side of the page) for more July garden shots

new visitor to the garden
A yellow tufted honeyeater - very obligingly stuck around for 5 minutes for some blurry through the window photos!
